Culture & Festivals


14th Annual Korean Festival, Saturday, 7/11/15, Magic Island next to Ala Moana Park. Sponsored by the Korean Chamber of Commerce this festival will celebrate Korean culture through food, dance, art, music & entertainment. There will also be Korean martial arts performances, a traditional tea ceremony, cooking lessons and Korean fan & drum dances.


18th Annual Haleiwa Arts Festival, Saturday, 7/18/15 & Sunday, 7/19/15 at Haleiwa Beach Park in Haleiwa Town on the north shore. Artists, crafters & performing arts will be featured as well. There will also be food & activities for kids. Exact times unknown but last year it was from 10am-6pm on Saturday & 10:00am-5:00pm on Sunday.

Hosted & located at Fresh Cafe Warehouse aka “Loft in Space” in Kakaako. Also features live music, live painters, MC’s, national touring poets & DJ’s. 50th State Fair at Aloha Stadium, 5/22-7/5/15 (weekends only including Memorial Day), $5-$35 depending on the day, but little kids are free & so is military on Memorial Day. Hours vary but generally 6pm Fridays, 4pm Saturdays & 12:00noon on Sundays. Closing is between 11pm and midnight depending on management’s call. The goal is to educate the public about agriculture through education and interactive displays & games. Also include livestock exhibits & one of the largest plant sales on the island. XTERRA Freedom Fest, Saturday, 7/4/15, 6:00-9:00am at Kualoa Ranch. 5K or 10K trail competition. Options such as a 1K ocean swim, off road triathlon or a 20K or 40K mountain bike race. This all takes place in the valleys at Kualoa Ranch. Also activities for kids such as arts, crafts & temporary tattoos. More info here

Top finishers should arrive to Oahu’s Maunalua Bay (Hawaii Kai area) between 12-12:30pm.

The channel is 32 miles and has drawn over 250 competitors from 20 countries in past years. More info here
