Halloween

Halloween is definitely in the air in October and I think Oahu is one of the best places to celebrate.

There's a wide range of venues from haunted plantations to nightclubs and of course the always excellent people watching along Kalakaua Ave in Waikiki. The photo below shows Chinatown.

Pacific Aviation Museum-Saturday, 10/3/15, "Open Cockpit Day" at Pearl Harbor ,10:30-3:30pm. Opportunity to climb into the cockpit of aircraft & talk w/ pilots. Flight suits & helmets provided. Free w/ admission to museum & free to members.

TIP: Access to Ford Island where the museum is restricted to military so if interested in going you will need to go to the visitors center at Pearl Harbor. Pay for admission here & then they will transport you there.

Art After Dark at the Honolulu Museum of Art Pictured Above

 

First Fridays-First Friday of the month that features an art gallery walk, restaurants, shops & live entertainment in the Chinatown area from 6:00pm-9:00pm but the lounges & clubs in the area stay open later. More info here and on their Facebook page here

HawaiiSlam's First Thursdays Slam Poetry Competition, Thursday, 10/1/15, 8:30-11:30pm, $3 before 8:30, $5 after. $100 prize to the winner. Hosted & located at Fresh Cafe Warehouse aka “Loft in Space” in Kakaako. Also features live music, live painters, MC’s, national touring poets & DJ’s. Check the Facebook page to see who's there that day. Kau Kau Grill has THE best ribs-the meat just falls off the bone. Lots of sweet sauce & it's super juicy. I'm from Chicago so I know my ribs :)


Art on the Zoo Fence-Artists hang their works on the wall fence of the Honolulu Zoo on Monsarrat Ave. Happens on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am-4:00pm. More info here



Mai Tai Bar-Live local music most weekends at Ala Moana Shopping Center, 4th fl with acts performing in their open lanai style bar. Very popular Pau Hana style bar with locals, tourists & military alike.
