Golf Courses Oahu

Golf Courses Oahu: offer not only a great round of golf but the setting is amongst some of the most spectacular in the world. There are a lot of golf courses here including free public ones but the quality is not that great and they can be crowded especially on weekends. I don't attempt to rate and discuss every course on the island but here are my top picks for golfing on each side. Private courses are excluded.

Windward Side Golfing

If you really want to feel like you're golfing in Hawaii then look no further than the Ko'Olau golf course on windward side of Oahu. Located about 25-30 minutes from Waikiki this course offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the Ko'Olau mountain range all the way down the coast. With the mountains RIGHT there behind you there's no doubt where you're playing. It is very challenging course to be honest but the beauty of the locale makes it worth it. They say that there's an average of 10 balls lost but don't let that stop you.

East Side Golfing

Located across the street from the ocean on the east side is Hawaii Kai golf course. I would say this would be my #3 choice behind Ko'Olau and Turtle Bay in terms of scenery. The breezes are great, you will feel like you're in Hawaii but it's not drop dead beautiful. It's nice enough.

Leeward Side Golfing

Located more towards the west side west of the Pearl Harbor area this section of the island is most reminiscent of a golf course on the mainland. In fact you might as well be located on the mainland because you will feel like you're golfing at home except that technically you are in Hawaii. It's flat and can get hot out here but the course is excellently maintained.

North Shore Golfing

If you want gorgeous views and oceanfront golfing in a north shore of Oahu setting with crashing waves nearby then this is the choice for you.

It's also good if you have family that would like to tag along but who aren't necessarily into golfing because Turtle Bay resort is right there.

The resort also has the spa with oceanfront massages, great beaches to hang out on and restaurants to eat at including a nice pool bar which happens to be oceanfront.

They can also go snorkeling, surfing, shopping in Haleiwa or hang out at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
